Final Results – Team Results and Race Report:
Thank you again to everyone who took part in the 2024 race in Arkengarthdale. It was a memorable event complimented with tremendous weather and an excellent turn-out.
We had 94 entries with 81 runners on the day representing 24 UK Police Forces. The course was a 10.2 mile route over Fremington Edge and Calver Hill with a total ascent of 2130 feet. The route traversed a real mixture of testing terrain through some magnificent scenery.
Rob Sparkes (Humberside) was the overall winner in a time of 1.17.40 with Jack Pilkington (Cheshire) 2nd by some seven minutes, and Simon Barnett (Thames Valley) 3rd place in a sprint finish with Jack. Lancashire Ladies Nikki Marshall and Janine Fallon were 1st and 2nd ladies. Nikki finished in 16th position in a terrific time of 1.35.
The Men’s teams were pretty closely contested. Cumbria were first by just two points to Cheshire with Derbyshire 3rd place. Lancashire took 1st Women’s team with Humberside ladies runners up.
Thank you to Kate Aspey and Simon Fricke for assisting with the event in North Yorkshire and providing us with an excellent course in the lovely Dales. Thank you also to Dan Preston, Anna Sykes, Phil Corris, Martyn Staveley (Providing the Police Federation support van) Martyn Scott, Pete Boddy and Jim O’Donnell for their marshal support.
I must also not forget to mention my lovely wife, Catherine who provided me with valued support!
