PSUK Ladies Football Team started their Group matches with a difficult opening match against holders Germany, a team that has never lost a match in the EPC events.
A great first half defensive display by PSUK saw the teams level at half time until Germany scored in the 67th minute. The game looked like it would end that way until Germany scored twice in the final three minutes to win 3-0.
Further set-back for PSUK on Day 2, losing 1-0 to Netherlands in a very close fought match. UK conceded the only goal of the game just before half time. PSUK were clearly on top in the second half and had two penalty appeals turned down.
Final Group game, PSUK 2 Ireland 1. An opening goal after 27 minutes put UK in charge and just 4 minutes after half time the lead was extended. Ireland came back with 20 minutes left, for a very nervous last few minutes.
And so to the 5th/6th play-off match -v- Denmark. In a hard fought first half PSUK were unlucky to trail 1-0at half time. However, two great goals in the second half showed the true potential of the squad, securing a well deserved win and 5th place overall.
Norway and Germany contest the final on Sunday.
