Head Coach Sally Bunyard-Spiers shared some insightful thoughts on the team’s journey:

As a member of the Police service we often have to forfeit playing our sports at a local, national and International level due to work commitments. The ability for officers and staff to participate at all 3 levels is demanding, especially if assigned shift work. Many of the officers and staff will already have given great commitment to their sport prior to joining the Police Service and will find it challenging to adjust their sporting ambitions within their Policing careers. PSUK sport at both championship and USPE levels gives officers and staff the foundation and structure to continue their sporting journey, allowing them to forge a pathway that shares both their dedication to sport and also to their communities. The United Kingdom Women’s Basketball Team not only looks to develop players and their experiences within the PSUK framework, but also looks to integrate with local basketball communities, thus identifying Police Officers and Staff of the future. Participation in USPE events still gives us that pride in representing our nation at the international level.

Join us in rallying behind the United Kingdom’s Women’s Basketball Team as they prepare to showcase their talent and dedication on the court in preparation for the 4th USPE European Police Championships Basketball Women, 18th – 25th May 2024 in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. The squad will be facing off against tough opposition in Group B: France (Reigning Champions), Iceland, and Belgium! 🥇🏀
