MESSAGE FROM LADIES FOOTBALL SECTION

Dear all

Hope you all well and enjoying your new season with your respective clubs. I have sent this email to players past and present who I have had the pleasure of working with during my time and some additional ones on my mailing list.

I just wanted to officially sign off as UK Police Team Manager, after 10 years of being heavily involved in the section and the last 6 years as Manager. I have to say it’s been a privilege to work with so many good players, and after 10 years I consider many of you as friends. Since 2016, I have give it my all to try and develop the team, maintain some structure around coaching / camps / trials and to deliver some top opposition and venues with very limited funding in order to fully prepare the squad for the European Championships.

The European Championships Norway 2022 did not disappoint, the team performed exceptionally well and left everything on the pitch in which I was very proud.  To go 70 minutes with Germany before conceding, is a testament to how far we have come and your characters, no other team did that throughout the competition and Germany remain unbeaten in this competition. We narrowly missed out being on the podium,  but 5th we secured and we definitely saved the best for last, what a game it was, players give such a ‘Performance’ with so much emotion. THANK YOU.

A special thank you to my management team and coaches for all your help and support and assisting me getting the best out the girls with your knowledge and personal experiences. It was extremely important to bring in A licence coaches to ensure a solid and current playing philosophy and we were tactically sound to compete with the best in Europe, and that we did.

Now for a new era,  I would to formally introduce the new manager Jemma Connor-Iommi, she has been appointed  following interviews by DCC Vanessa Jardine and Ian Campbell after application process. She is extremely passionate and enthusiastic about her new role and has an exceptionally exciting vision for the section and its development. She will link in with you all very soon with her plans.

I will be doing an official handover with Jemma in due course, and I personally know she has several quality players waiting to trial who play at a high level in the game, these players will add further quality, strength and depth to the squad which will add competition, which we need.  We have less than 3 years to prepare for the next euros in Germany where I have high expectations, which will come around in no time.

I can also state our fabulous sponsors Niche, Cloudgateway and Agilisys have honoured to continue to support the team further in our journey to Munich 2025, they have gave us tremendous stability as a section and now we can hopefully give the squad the very best in terms of facilities and support as we move forward and evolve. They are very supportive of the team and the vision of the section.

So finally from me, a fond farewell, I can say I am very proud of our journey together and forever memories we have made. Good luck for the future, you are in great hands and I will continue to follow your development and journey and I will be checking up on you all soon 😊

Yours in Sport
